Yale begins active recruitment of LGBTQ applicants for its med school

To increase diversity and increase a demographic group underrepresented as physicians, officials from the Yale University School of Medicine have begun to actively recruit lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer applicants, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

Toward that aim, the school has taken efforts such as creating a brochure aimed at LGBTQ applicants that will be included in the packets for all applicants. School officials also are considering adding a sexual orientation section to its application. They likened the active recruitment effort to coeducation measures taken a century ago.
