University System of Georgia names new chief academic officer

Tristan Denley has been named chief academic officer and executive vice chancellor of academic affairs for the University System of Georgia, according to a USG news release. His appointment is effective May 22.

Denley currently serves as the vice chancellor for academic affairs at the Tennessee Board of Regents, where he has worked since August 2013. He was provost and vice president for academic affairs at Austin Peay State University before moving to Tennessee.

In his new role, Denley will oversee all matters related to academics and students. Born in Great Britain, he earned his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
