University of Michigan’s College of Engineering gets $15 million gift

A University of Michigan alumnus and his wife have made a $15 million donation, the largest in school history, to the institution’s College of Engineering, school officials announced.

Philanthropist J. Robert Beyster, founder of the research and engineering firm Science Applications International Corp., donated the money to his alma mater to bolster entrepreneurship programs, make capital improvements at the college and provide an endowed fellowship program that will fund up to 10 engineering doctoral students each year. In recognition, the building that houses the College of Engineering will be renamed the Bob and Betty Beyster Building.
