University of Colorado at Boulder appoints first ‘conservative’ scholar

The University of Colorado at Boulder appointed its first Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy.

Steven Hayward, who has been a fellow at the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, where he studied environmental issues, was named to the post.

This designated politically conservative academic position is the first of its kind at a U.S. university.

The one-year appointment was created from $1 million in donations, following years of criticism that the University of Colorado is too liberal and closed off to conservative ideas.
