Report concludes university-industry partnerships vital to economy

Inventions developed at universities and licensed to businesses contributed $187 billion dollars to the gross national product from 1996 to 2007, a new study from the Biotechnology Industry Organization reported.

Other key findings of trade group’s study ate that university-licensed products have created at least 279,000 new jobs during the same period, and that the annual change in gross domestic product due such products has grown each year.
