UGA’s Women in Science student organization to hold career symposium

The UGA student organization Women in Science—also known as UGA WiSci—will host “Mapping Your Path in Science: WiSci Career Symposium,” Nov. 13-14 at the UGA Odum School of Ecology. Attendance is free and open to all, regardless of gender, but registration is required.

The symposium is designed to provide networking opportunities and foster professional development through panel discussions and interactive workshops. Topics include work/life balance, job search strategies and skills, and identifying careers both inside and outside of academia.

The event begins with check-in and coffee in the Odum School of Ecology lobby at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 13, followed by a welcome and opening remarks by UGA Provost Pamela Whitten at 11:15 a.m. On Nov. 14, associate professor of ­marine sciences Patricia Yager will deliver the keynote address at 9 a.m. The symposium concludes at 1 p.m. For the complete list of speakers, symposium schedule and to register, see http://wisciuga.weebly.com/symposium.html.
