Public university students in Arizona will pay between 16 and 20 percent more for their education next year due to tuition increases recently approved by the Arizona Board of Regents, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
The board approved the hikes due to a 17 percent cut in state-appropriated funds in 2009. While the changes will help the universities absorb the impact, they won’t make up for the loss, the Chronicle reported. The hikes will affect students at the University of Arizona (up 20 percent), Arizona State University (up 19 percent) and Northern Arizona University (up 16 percent).
