The Supreme Court heard arguments in late October regarding an imported textbook copyright case.
Text publishers sued an international student attending Cornell University and the University of Southern California for selling textbooks that overseas friends and relatives bought abroad and sent to him.
The textbooks were cheaper abroad than they were in the U.S., so the student was making a profit off the sales.
While textbooks bought in the U.S. can be sold used by their owner, the Supreme Court is weighing whether this rule applies for books purchased abroad.
