Summer enrollment tops 15,000

Total enrollment for summer semester at UGA is 15,302 students. Enrollment on the university’s main Athens campus is up from last summer but total enrollment is down 61 students due to lower enrollment numbers at two of the university’s extended campuses.

A total of 14,554 students are attending summer classes at the Athens campus, 176 more than last year. The figure includes 9,848 undergraduates, 4,290 graduate students and 416 students enrolled in the professional schools of law, pharmacy and veterinary medicine.

Enrollment at the campus UGA shares with Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville totals 464, a decrease of 179 students. Undergraduate enrollment dropped by 150 students and graduate enrollment is down by 47 students. UGA began phasing out its undergraduate program when Georgia Gwinnett College was created last year and will end undergraduate courses when current undergraduates complete their study in spring of 2008.

Eleven students are enrolled at the Tifton campus, which offers only undergraduate courses, 25 less than last year. Enrollment at the Griffin campus, which offers both undergraduate and graduate programs, increased to 26, up from 10 last summer. Sixteen students are taking graduate courses, which began last fall.
