Study: Freshman focus on geography

A study suggests that geography is an important aspect to college enrollment. According to the study commissioned by the American Council on Education, a majority of incoming freshmen enrolling in four-year public colleges and universities stay within 50 miles of their home.

According to Inside Higher Ed, authors of the study suggested that the geography-based decision-making leads to disadvantages for students living in “education deserts,” where higher education options are limited.
