Michigan State University scientist exonerated in stem-cell scandal

An American scientist whose name appears on flawed research papers published in Science in 2004, has been exonerated of all wrong doing, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported. Jose B. Cibelli, a professor of animal science and physiology at Michigan State University, was listed as co-author on a landmark paper by South Korean scientist Woo Suk Hwang that falsely claimed Hwang was able to create stem cells from cloned human embryos.

An investigative committee at Michigan State found that Cibelli, who designed some of the experiments and helped write the manuscript, did not know of the misconduct on Hwang’s part.
