Saxophonist in residence at music school

One of the world’s leading saxophonists will share his talents with the UGA community Jan. 28–Feb. 2 as the Hodgson School of Music’s McKay Artist in Resident.

Eugene Rousseau will present in master classes, work with students and give a free performance with the UGA Symphony at 8 p.m. Feb. 1 in Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall. The performance features Song Concerto by American composer Libby Larsen, which was commissioned for Rousseau by some of his former students. Rousseau has garnered praise across the globe, performing with prestigious orchestras on four continents and holding more than six guest professorships in his lifetime. He also holds distinction as the chief saxophone designer for the Yamaha Corporation, the man who has created more recordings than any other classical saxophonist, and the founder of the World Saxophone Congress.
