Saskatchewan restores financial support to First Nations University

The Canadian province of Saskatchewan has promised to restore its funding to First Nations University of Canada, an institution controlled by the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian
Nations and dedicated to supporting post-secondary learning in a culturally supportive First Nations environment, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

Saskatchewan withdrew its financial backing last month, citing administrative delays and poor financial planning at FNUC. The province’s reversal came after an agreement was signed among the institution, the province and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations. The Canadian government, which dropped funding to the university after the province, has not announced plans to reinstate its portion.
