Robert Warren, a professor of wildlife ecology and management, received the Wildlife Society’s 2014 Aldo Leopold Memorial Award for distinguished service to wildlife conservation. Warren accepted the award, the highest one bestowed by the society, Oct. 26 at the organization’s 21st annual conference in Pittsburgh.

The Wildlife Society chooses recipients for the award based on contributions to the wildlife field. The award was created in 1948 after the death of Leopold, a scientist and ecologist whose nature and wildlife preservation expertise led to him founding the science of wildlife management.

This is the second major recognition Warren, a Meigs Professor in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, has received from the Wildlife Society. He was given the Excellence in Wildlife Education Award last year in recognition of his exemplary teaching of wildlife education.
