Residence halls compete to conserve

Students living in the Hill Community (Boggs, Church, Mell, Lipscomb and Hill halls) are competing in the inaugural UGA Green Cup competition until Oct. 11 to determine which residence hall can most greatly reduce energy and water use.

Halls will be scored based on kilowatts and gallons used. Bonus points will be awarded for attendance at competition events. Energy and water numbers will be displayed each day in the lobby of each hall and on the Web to provide feedback. This hands-on learning opportunity will allow students to see first hand the impact of their individual actions.

More information on the competition is available online at http://gogreen.uga.edu/greencup/.

The competition is sponsored by the UGA River Basin Center, University Housing, the Physical Plant and the Ecofocus Film Festival.
