‘Plantapalooza’ spring plant sale planned for April 9 at three locations

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, UGA Horticulture Club and UGA Trial Gardens will combine spring plant sales to create “Plantapalooza” on April 9 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. An array of garden plants selected to thrive in Southeastern gardens will be available at each location, along with horticulturists, volunteers and Master Gardeners to help with plant selections.

The Trial Gardens at UGA, located behind Snelling Dining Hall and next to the Pharmacy building, will focus on offering unique plants that are difficult to find anywhere else. They also will offer Athens Select Plants. Allan Armitage will be available to sign his books (which will be for sale) and lead tours of the Trial Gardens.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, headquarters of the Georgia Gold Medal Plant Program (www.georgiagoldmedalplants.com), will have Gold Medal plants noted among its selection of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, herbs, vegetables and more. This sale also will offer many native plants grown at the State Botanical Garden. The Garden Gift Shop will be open.

The UGA Horticulture Club, near the intersection of Riverbend and College Station roads, will be selling a range of garden and landscape plants.

Plant lists, directions, and more information are online at www.ugatrialgardens.com/. Coffee and light snacks will be sold at the two gardens.
