Obesity Initiative launches website

Launched in January, the new UGA Obesity Initiative website, captures the enormity of the obesity problem in Georgia and the nation, and the depth and breadth of the university’s efforts to address it.

The website highlights four focus areas: the cause of obesity; obesity education, communication, and public health strategy; obesity environmental interaction; and obesity prevention and treatment.  The focus areas are being tackled by more than 75 UGA faculty organized into 11 expert teams.

The website contains links to facts about the obesity problem on a national and state scale as well as information on the costs related to the epidemic. It keeps the initiative’s members, partners and the public informed about UGA’s efforts to tackle the problem.
