Obama taps Ohio professor as new chief White House photographer

An assistant professor at Ohio University has been picked to be the next chief White House photographer, the Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

Pete Souza, who began teaching at Ohio in 2007, plans to take a leave of absence from the university, but said he will return someday. He began been snapping photos of President-elect Barack Obama in January 2005 for the Chicago Tribune. Since then, Souza has followed Obama to seven countries­ and throughout his presidential campaign.
