Number of undergraduate public health majors grew from 1992 to 2012

The number of undergraduate majors in public health has grown considerably, according to a report released last month by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health.

Nearly 50,000 undergraduates received public health degrees from 1992 to 2012, but, according to the report, the growth came toward the latter end with half of those degrees being awarded from 2008 to 2012.

The report also found that the percentage of undergraduate degrees in public health awarded to women grew from 61 percent to 78 percent from 1992 to 2012.
