New UC Davis center to focus on studying popular caffeinated drink

The University of California, Davis has created a Coffee Center focused on studying the popular caffeinated beverage including the quality, health and sustainability of coffee, according to a story by The Sacramento Bee in California.

The center, which draws on the university’s faculty from multiple disciplines, is seeking a partnership within the coffee industry.

UC Davis, which already has programs for the study of wine and beer, also is considering establishing a major in coffee science, which could be the first of its kind.
