New Jersey college bans alcoholic energy drink after students get sick

Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J., has banned the beverage Four Loko after 23 students were hospitalized this semester for alcoholic intoxication after drinking it, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The drink, which is sold in 23.5-ounce cans and carries a 12 percent alcohol content (equal to about four beers), is also caffeinated, carbonated and fruity, which administrators say is used to appeal to underage drinkers.
