New California law aims to save students money on textbooks

A new California law will require textbook publishers to describe the changes made in new editions to professors and buyers, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education. Lawmakers say the legislation, which will take effect in 2013, will help students determine whether they really need to buy an expensive new version or if a previous edition will suffice. Publishers also will be required to tell buyers about other products they offer on the same topic.
