College of Education student Alexander Kappus has been selected as one of eight graduate students in the country to receive a Graduate Association Program Scholarship from the National Association of Student Personnel Administration.

The scholarship includes a complimentary registration to the 2012 NASPA annual conference in Phoenix in March, as well as hotel accommodations.

Kappus, from Cleveland, Ohio, is a second-year master’s student in the college’s student affairs administration program in the department of counseling and human development. He is the outgoing president of the UGA Student Personnel Association. Kappus also holds an assistantship in University Housing as a graduate resident in Creswell Hall. After graduation in May, he plans to work in college administration and later earn a doctorate in educational policy for higher education.

As part of his recognition, Kappus will make two presentations and contribute to the conference’s annual blog.

“I am proud to represent the program here at UGA,” he said. “This scholarship would not have been possible without the support of the faculty in the College of Education.”
