Memorial service planned for late Graduate School assistant dean

A celebration of life ceremony has been planned for Michael A. Johnson, an assistant dean at the Graduate School. The service will take place April 1 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. It is open to members of the UGA community and the public.

Johnson, who died Feb. 26 at the age of 44, joined UGA in 2004 after serving two years as assistant dean of the graduate school at the ­University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

He worked with admissions and enrollment at Milligan College in Tennessee from 1986 to 2001, before joining the UNC-Greensboro staff as director of graduate recruitment and information services.

Johnson earned a master’s degree in public heath administration from East Tennessee State University and a bachelor of science degree in human relations from Milligan College.

In lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the University of Georgia Arch Foundation Michael A. Johnson Graduate Fellowship.
