The Faculty Research Expertise Database, or FRED, knows more about the research being done on campus than anyone else. He can put scientists in touch with potential collaborators. He’s available at all hours, and it costs nothing to consult him. Maintained by the Office of the Vice President for Research, this online tool with the human name brings data on all UGA faculty research interests to one easily accessible search engine. Searchable by keyword queries, FRED is useful for finding other faculty on campus to develop collaborative projects and proposals. The program is currently used to facilitate interdisciplinary research on campus.
