Massachusetts will pay state colleges to boost academic performance
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick announced plans to award grants to state colleges that provide plans to improve graduation rates, science instruction and academic performance of minority students, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported. The grants, which will total about $2.5 million, signal a shift in state higher education policy because it bases aid on progress as opposed to enrolling more students, the Chronicle reported.
