Roswell Lawrence Jr. has been named assistant to the vice president for finance and administration and director of client relations.

Lawrence most recently worked at the Health Sciences Campus where he facilitated on-site coordination for the services and support offered by finance and administration units and served as the primary liaison with faculty, staff and other campus units. His new position is an expansion of that role for the entire Division of Finance and Administration.

“Roswell did such an exceptional job in his previous role that he essentially worked himself out of a job, which is why I know he is the perfect fit for this new role,” said Ryan Nesbit, vice president for finance and administration.

A native of Greensboro, Lawrence received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from UGA in 2005. He received an MBA from Piedmont College in 2009 and a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Rice College & Seminary in 2013. He is pursuing a doctorate in educational administration and policy at UGA.

Lawrence joined the university’s finance and administration team in Accounts Payable in 2007. As assistant to the vice president, Lawrence provides strategic planning support for the division’s customer service initiatives through data collection, client and customer service surveys, and solicitation of personal feedback and input. He helps ensure effective communication between the Finance and Administration Division and other departments.

“Building strong relationships across campus is essential to understanding how I can best serve the university,” Lawrence said. “My goal is to enhance the experience by providing more effective communication support for all of finance and administration.”
