Top administrators at Indiana public universities may be able to stay on the job after turning 65 thanks to a new bill moving through that state’s legislature, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
The bill makes it illegal for state university to mandate retirement for officials in key policymaking positions to retire at a certain age. In addition, the bill has an effective date that would allow the 65-year-old chancellor of Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, in the position for nearly 20 years, to remain past June.
