Improved night bus routes rolled out

The Student Government Association, working in collaboration with Auxiliary Services and Transportation and Parking, introduced new night bus routes providing more frequent service to student-identified destinations. The new night bus routes will decrease wait times and provide students with safe transportation while still providing coverage to all areas previously serviced.

The new night bus routes will reduce average bus service intervals from 20 to 15 minutes, resulting in an average student wait time reduction from 10 minutes to 7.5 minutes.

The routes will increase service on the Family Housing, Milledge and Health Science Campus routes as well as provide students with safe travel to and from North Campus and the Arch. Additionally, the routes will more frequently travel to central and south campuses including the Miller Learning Center, the Tate Student Center, Snelling Dining Hall and all libraries.

Night bus routes will now also run until 1 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and until 3 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Also, in response to additional student concerns, the SGA proposal amended the new routes to include a one-year night shuttle service from Soule Hall to apartments along South Milledge Avenue and Riverbend Parkway. The addition of the South Milledge Avenue and Riverbend Parkway service was provided for the students who already had signed leases in this area for the 2017-2018 academic year.
