Plea bargains reached in hazing death at U. of Texas at Austin

Three students charged in connection with the alcohol poisoning death of a member in the Asian-focused Lambda Phi Epsilon fraternity at the University of Texas at Austin have pleaded no contest to hazing charges, the Houston Chronicle reported.

In addition to writing affidavits to be used in an educational video about drinking, each student must pay a $1,000 fine, serve two years probation and perform 100 hours of community service. The fraternity has been banned from the university until 2011.
