Hazing charges dropped against two Rider University officials

Hazing charges against two officials at Rider University in connection with the drinking death of a freshman were recently dropped, the Associated Press reported. After indicting the New Jersey university’s dean of students and director of Greek life, Mercer County prosecutor Joseph Bocchini Jr. asked that charges against the officials be dropped. The student, 18-year-old Gary DeVercelly, died from alcohol poisoning after imbibing at a fraternity initiation.

Charges are still pending against three officers of the fraternity.
