At 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 in 265 Park Hall, Henry Kamen will deliver this year’s Guy Fawkes Lecture entitled, “Elizabeth I: The Not-So-Golden Age.” Sponsored by the British and Irish Studies Program, the English department and the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, the lecture and the reception following it are open to the public.
Kamen’s books include Early Modern European Society, Who’s Who in Europe, 1450-1750, Empire: How Spain Became a World Power, 1492-1763 and most recently, The Disinherited: The Exiles Who Created Spanish Culture. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and emeritus professor of the Higher Council for Scientific Research in Barcelona.
