Explosion closes SUNY campus

A chemistry laboratory explosion closed the State University of New York’s Canton campus for one week earlier this month, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The closure comes as work crews clean up and decontaminate the building that was damaged by fire and smoke that emanated from hazardous materials burning. No injuries were sustained from the Feb. 10 explosion. No one was in the lab when the explosion occurred, and firefighters have not determined its cause, the Chronicle reported.
