Emory University has acknowledged past anti-Semitic practices at its former dental school from 1948 to 1961. According to an Emory news release, Jewish students at Emory’s dental school “were failed or forced to repeat courses at a rate disproportionate to their numbers” during that time. Evidence of bias surfaced 50 years ago, but Emory officials denied the claims until recently. The university’s acknowledgment comes as Perry Brickman, a former student of the dentistry school who “flunked out” of classes due to the bias practices, screened his film about the experience.
