Donations to colleges and universities totaled almost $1 billion more in 2016 than in the previous fiscal year, a new report from the Council for Aid to Education shows.
U.S. institutions raised $41 billion, but inflation accounts for the majority of that difference.
Gifts from individuals decreased while organizations, foundations and corporations contributed more than in 2015, accounting for more than $23 billion in donations.
