Jay A. Mancini, the Anne Montgomery Haltiwanger Distinguished Professor in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and head of child and family development department, has edited a new book with Karen A. Roberto of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Pathways of Human Development: Explorations of Change uses theoretical perspectives from developmental, social and behavioral sciences to examine the many ways that individuals, families and communities intersect and interface.

Focusing on the impact of change on human development, including its antecedents, processes and consequences, the chapters examine topics such as health and adaptation; adolescent sexuality and community resilience.

By extending human development theorizing across these pivotal life-changing issues, the book offers a map of the trajectories of individuals and communities.
