D.C.’s only public university to become two separate entities

Washington, D.C., plans to split its sole public university into two schools: a four-year college with admission standards and a two-year, open-enrollment community college, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The University of the District of Columbia plans to split to improve its 16 percent graduation rate. The four-year college will continue at the current campus while a new one will be built for the proposed community college.
