Community college to give first choice to students who pay double

A community college in New Bedford, Mass., is offering students the chance to bypass waiting lists for courses on nursing and allied-health by paying double tuition, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The program, which is a partnership between Bristol Community College and the Princeton Review, has been controversial, with officials saying it’s a way to meet the growing demand to train health care workers and detractors saying the idea runs counter to the nature of American public education, the Chronicle reported.
