Community college ordered to pay $3,000 per day fine for not paying up

A federal judge ordered Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Ala., to pay $511,000 to a history instructor who won a lawsuit alleging she was fired due to reverse discrimination, according to the Press-Register, a local newspaper.

Sarah Taylor, a white instructor, sued after her contract was not renewed in 2002. The judge ordered the college to reinstate Taylor and compensate her for lost wages and legal fees. So far, the college has not complied with the order and faces a $3,000 per day fine until it pays Taylor.
