College in Michigan settles lawsuit

Lansing Community College agreed to pay its former attorney $175,000 to settle a lawsuit alleging he was wrongfully fired after he accused the college’s president of misspending thousands of dollars, the Lansing State Journal reported. The college admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement, and its president, Judith F. Cardenas, said in a written statement that the college had acted appropriately in firing the former counsel. Cardenas was cleared of wrongdoing by two audits requested by the college’s Board of Trustees.
