College exit exams building steam

Students have long taken tests such as the SAT or ACT to get into college. Now there is a movement in higher education to require students to take a final exam to graduate from college, according to an article by Time magazine.

The idea is based on the notion that students should finish college with a certain set of skills before moving into the workplace.

Already the University of Central Missouri has a graduation test, and this year the University System of Ohio is beginning to test education degree candidates. The Time story estimates that “50 colleges and universities in nine states” are developing tests for students before they graduate.
