A collection of practice books covering various aspects of prevention efforts in psychology was co-edited by Arthur M. Horne, dean of UGA’s College of Education, and Robert K. Conyne, professor emeritus of the University of Cincinnati.

The Prevention Practice Kit: Action Guides for Mental Health Professionals is a series of eight, independent 100-page books. They cover the span of preventive application including a general overview of prevention, best practices, diversity evaluation, evidence base and public policy.

Each book in the kit is written by scholars in the specific field of prevention practice, which address critical conceptual and/or practical areas within prevention.

Two of the books were co-authored by Horne and Katherine Raczynski, a doctoral student in UGA’s research, evaluation, measurement and statistics program, based in the education college’s educational psychology and instructional technology department.

Endorsed by the Prevention Section of the Society of Counseling Psychology of the American Psychological Association, the kit is intended to provide practitioners, instructors and students with specific direction for spreading and improving the practice of prevention by counselors, psychologists, social workers and other human services personnel.
