Clinton budget director to speak Feb. 19

President Bill Clinton’s former director of the Office of Management and Budget, Alice M. Rivlin, will deliver the School of Public and International Affairs’ annual Getzen Lecture on Government Accountability at 3 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Chapel. Her lecture is entitled “Facing Up to the Fiscal Challenge of Health Care Spending.” The lecture is open to the public.

Rivlin is a visiting professor at the Public Policy Institute of Georgetown University and a Senior Fellow in the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution. She is the director of the Greater Washington Research Program at Brookings. Before returning to Brookings, Rivlin served as vice chair of the Federal Reserve Board from 1996-1999.  She was director of the White House Office of Management and Budget from 1994-1996 and deputy director from 1993-1994. She also chaired the District of Columbia Financial Management Assistance Authority from 1998-2001.
