Cancer institute receives $150 million gift from United Arab Emirates leader

The charity foundation of Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nayhan, president of the United Arab Emirates, has pledged to donate $150 million to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas in Houston, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The center will use the money to build an Institute for Personalized Cancer Therapy
as well as endow three research professorships. Sheik Khalifa made a similar donation to Johns Hopkins University’s medical wing in 2007 in honor of his father, who died in 2004.
