Two months after closing, Bethany University plans to open again

Although Bethany University, a four-year private Christian university in Scotts Valley, Calif., announced in June that it would close due to monetary problems after 92 years in business, its name will live on, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

Olivet University, a Christian institution in San Francisco, has bought the 60-acre Bethany campus and plans to begin classes this fall under the name Bethany University. Olivet, which is affiliated with the Evangelical Assembly of Presbyterian Churches, also plans to move ahead with campus maintenance and construction projects, such as a new cafeteria and student center, that were abandoned by Bethany University, the Chronicle reported.
