Academic leadership development nominations

The deadline for nominating a faculty member for the 2013-2014 UGA Administrative Fellows Program, part of a broader initiative involving SECU, the academic initiative of the Southeastern Conference, is April 19.

The goal of UGA’s Administrative Fellows Program and the related SECU Academic Leadership Development Program is to expose faculty interested in administration to the challenges and rewards of such institutional service and to prepare them for potential leadership positions within the academy. Fellows work closely with select senior administrators to gain valuable knowledge and experience.

Up to four individuals are selected each year to serve as UGA administrative fellows under the mentorship of a senior administrator or dean. Fellows also will participate in two SECU ALDP workshops hosted during the fall and spring semesters by an SEC institution. UGA will host the fall workshop, followed by the University of South Carolina in spring 2014. These workshops will address topics such as leadership in higher education, organizational structure and operations, emerging issues in higher education, innovative approaches to serve students, and quality and accountability.

Senior administrators and deans are invited to nominate an individual for a fellowship. Applications and more information are online at http://provost.uga.edu/index.php/resources/.
