University competes in 10-week RecycleMania Tournament

UGA will compete in the 2011 Recycle-Mania Tournament.

Over a 10-week period, campuses compete in different contests to see which institution can either collect the largest amount of recyclables per capita, the largest amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash per capita or achieve the highest recycling rate. The main goal of RecycleMania is to increase student awareness of campus recycling and waste minimization.

The RecycleMania kick-off event was Feb. 7 at the Tate Student Center Plaza. Additional events will be held such as a “Recyclympics” competition between residence halls, recycling bin distribution to offices, cleaning out files during the week of March 14 and a waste audit March 30 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the north lawn of the Tate Student Center.
