A nonprofit group announced that it will award $1 million to the metropolitan area that exhibits the greatest increase in the number of post-secondary degrees granted per capita over the next four years, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
CEOs for Cities, with support from the Kresge Foundation and the Lumina Foundation for Education, announced its Talent Dividend Prize, which aims to increase college graduation rates as an economic-development stimulus. The contest is open to any metropolitan area in the U.S. with a population of more than 500,000 or the largest metropolitan area in a state based on the 2009 American Community Survey data, the Chronicle reported.
