Wimba Classroom replacement

Blackboard Collaborate has been selected to replace Wimba Classroom as the centrally supported tool for instructional Web conferencing at UGA.

Both tools are currently available for use in eLearning Commons, but support for new Wimba Classroom live sessions will end Aug. 1.

The company that supports Wimba Classroom will end support of the product at the end of 2014. Instructors may download previously recorded Wimba sessions until Dec. 24.

Instructions for how to download previous sessions are available at http://ctl.uga.edu/web-conferencing/faculty.

Blackboard Collaborate was one of three products pilot-tested by faculty and students in fall 2013. Following the evaluation of these products, Collaborate was selected as the best tool for instructional use. Blackboard Collaborate is supported jointly by the Center for Teaching and Learning and Enterprise Information Technology Services.
