When leaves won’t leave

The Lexington, Ky., Herald-Leader quoted Kim Coder, professor of community forestry and tree health, in an article about the unlikeliness that fall will bring a colorful leaf display to Kentucky forests. The combination of frost and drought appear to be making leaves stay green longer, Coder said, “That’s because the trees are trying to hang onto leaves a little longer for food, because they’re behind this year.”
